Writer's Group

Ladies are part of a group that meets regularly so they have time to write.  It can be creative stories, poetry, or whatever.  Others may provide constructive feedback or no feedback if preferred.  The group is flexible and always enjoyable and supportive.

Active Pursuits

Golf

The Newcomers Golf Group meets weekly, at Sugarloaf Golf Course. Players of all levels are welcome. We are a social golf group and do not compare scores. Members pay their own greens fees. We welcome new members.

Artful Interests

All levels of expertise are welcome, from novice to advanced. If you are new to jewelry making, we will send you a list of tools you will need; all supplies can be purchased at Michael's. We meet monthly at a residence in Oakmont.

KNIT & STITCH

Bring your knitting, crocheting, embroidery, or any stitching project you enjoy.  Join fellow stitchers for a time of creativity, conversation, and fun.  We meet on the second Friday of each month from 10:30am - 12:00pm.  All types of needlework are welcome.

Brain Games

Game Group

Among our most popular groups, Game Group meet in members’ homes for an afternoon of board, card or other games, selected by your hostess. It’s a great way for new members to get acquainted.

Mah-Jong American

The more serious of the two, this version follows the published cards issued by the American Mah Jongg League and players must strategize their path to the win. There are multiple groups, so check the calendar and contact the P.O.C.

Mah-Jong Chinese

Learn this fascinating game in a comfortable setting. Our member-hostesses open their homes for an engrossing afternoon of tiles and chatter. There are multiple groups, so check the calendar and contact the P.O.C.

CANASTA CLUB

Discover this intriguing card game that was born in Uruguay.  We meet on the 2nd Monday of every month and play Canasta -- a fast-moving game that combines elements of bridge and rummy. We meet at a different club member's home and have fun!

BUNKO

Bunko is a lively, social dice game played in teams, typically with 12 or more players.  The game is mostly based on luck making it easy and enjoyable for all.  The group meets and shares munchies and lots of fun.

Community

Service Group

The easiest way to make friends is through activities performed together. If you are looking for a way to help by improving your community, Newcomers and Friends finds projects in the Sonoma County that are in need of our services — helping out in a store or food pantry, collecting donations of goods, and raising funds. We strive to volunteer every other month — we generally try for the last Friday of the month, but on occasion we need to work around a special service project. Let’s help our community be a better and safer place for all of us.

Eat, Drink, and Be Merry

Breakfast Group

Rise and shine! We meet on the second Monday of every month at 9:00 am.  Locations  are varied, so contact the P.O.C to find out where we are this month. We would love to welcome new breakfasters. A word of advice: bring cash to make accounting easy!
