Guest Speaker for July - Jeane Slone
Imagine researching and writing five novels about the first women who significantly contributed to the war effort in WWII. That is just what our July speaker has done—Jeane Slone set out to highlight, in her five historical novels, the contributions, discrimination, and resilience of women during the 1940s. Her interest in this period was undoubtedly fueled by both of her parents, who served in the Army during World War II.
Ms Stone is a member of the Pacific Coast Air Museum, the Redwood Writer’s Club, and the National Women’s History Alliance. She has also taught history classes at Sonoma State University’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute.
The names of her novels, all published since 2007, are:
* She Flew Bombers during WWII, winner of the national 2012 Indie Book Award
* She Built Ships During WWII
* She Was an American Spy During WWII
* She Was a WWII Photographer Behind Enemy Lines, finalist in the Indie Excellence Book Awards
* She Was an American Combat Nurse During WWII
Don’t miss this opportunity to learn about women’s sacrifices and contributions to the war effort during this period.
